INNOVARCH 1st Intensive Course, 4th-9th April 2016, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Between 4 and 9 April the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) will host the first training course inside the INNOVARCH project. During a week diverse students and professionals from the universities of Crete (Greece), Warsaw (Poland) and Linnaeus (Sweden) participate in different talks and activities related to public archaeology. The event has been driven research group CEPAP-UAB and facilitated by the European program Erasmus +.

La Roca dels Bous inicia un nou període d’excavacions obertes al públic

El període d’excavacions a la Roca dels Bous s’ha iniciat novament aquesta setmana i s’allargarà fins al proper 3 d’Abril.

Els arqueòlegs que treballen en el jaciment situat a Camarasa excaven en un nivell arqueòlogic d’uns 50.000 anys d’antiguitat donant continuïtat als treball realitzats fins ara.

CEPAP-UAB has become part of the European Network "Ice Age Europe" and this January we will meet all the members, for the first time, in Torquay (UK). We are very happy and convinced that building network we feed with new ideas, new projects and we are stronger disseminating heritage from prehistory.

Declaran bien cultural de interés nacional la zona arqueológica de la Roca dels Bous

La Generalitat ha declarado este martes bien cultural de interés nacional la zona arqueológica de la Roca dels Bous, en Camarasa (Lleida), ha anunciado la portavoz del Govern, Neus Munté, en la rueda de prensa posterior al Consell Executiu. Con esta declaración se determina el criterio básico que se seguirá en las intervenciones en la zona arqueológica declarada y la necesidad de que la Conselleria de Cultura apruebe previamente cualquier cambio de uso de la zona. También prohíbe "con carácter general" la práctica de la escalada, excepto en el caso de supuestos excepcionales y previa autorización de la Conselleria.

Comença el projecte europeu Innovarch

INNOVARCH is a pilot educational project aimed to develop training methodologies and materials for introducing Public Archaeology in European Higher Education curricula. Partners of the project, which is founded by the K2 – Strategic Partnerships - Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, are the University of Crete (GR), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ES), the University of Warsaw (PL) and Linnaeus University (SE).

The project has started the 1st September 2015 and will finish the 30th August 2017.

Identifying bipolar knapping in the Mesolithic site of Font del Ros (northeast Iberia)

S'ha publicat el volum monogràfic de la revista Philosophical Transactions ‘Percussive technology in human evolution: a comparative approach in fossil and living primates’  (vol.370, November 2015) que inclou un article sobre la talla bipolar al jaciment de la Font del Ros : "Identifying bipolar knapping in the Mesolithic site of Font del Ros (northeast Iberia)."

New publication of CEPAP in Current Anthropology

The recent monographic volume of the journal Current Anthropology "Alternative Pathways to Complexity: Evolutionary Trajectories in the Middles Palaeolithic and Middles Stone Age" (vol.54, No.S8, December 2013) includes a paper on Middle Palaeolithic in Iberia, Change and Stasis in the Iberian Middle Paleolithic: Considerations on the Significance of Mousterian technological Variability, coauthored by researchers of CEPAP.


Archaeological project in Ethiopia - 2014

 

The new season of the Mieso Project in Ethiopia takes place during January and February 2014. Current work focuses on the study of archaeological materials stored in the National Museum of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.
